According to Derek Sivers, achieving goals are not a matter of proclaiming your intentions to anyone within earshot. Rather, your goals should be a secret pact you make with yourself, enabling the desire to actually complete them. More from Derek:

I can see this being true. . . for some people. I think it depends on the person and their personality. Some people thrive off sharing their goals and some people need to hold it inside.
