People think learning to play the guitar is difficult and needs a trained teacher. Well, the fact is this need not be so. If you have a good ear for music, you can learn to play any instrument by yourself provided you are dedicated towards it and determined to work hard.

When I decided that I wanted to play guitar, my mother bought me a good book. The first thing I did before even touching a guitar was, learning the chord sequence. I kept listening to how each chord sounded and how they differed from each other. This way when I actually began to learn the fingering of the chords, the sound of it was familiar. Now I can play any song I want without having to wonder what chord comes next.

The main key to success here is constant practice. The more I practiced the better I could play, the faster I could switch from one chord to another and the lesser mistakes I made.
