Learning the Basics:
Learning the Chords:
Practice, Practice, Practice:
- Pick one that feels right to you.( Don't worry about what you think is cool.)
- Go into a music store and look around and try many guitars out.
Learning the Basics:
- Learn how to properly hold the guitar and get comfortable doing it.
- Get acquainted with the strings and what their names are.
- Practice strumming the guitar without fingering any strings.
Learning the Chords:
- Use a manual (or the internet) to see how to finger some basic chords. (Some examples are A, C, D, E, and G)
- Practice fingering the chords and making sure the chords ring true when you strum.
- Memorize the chords.
- Practice switching between the chords fluidly.
Practice, Practice, Practice:
- Practicing a little bit each day is better than practicing a ton only one or two times a week. Make sure to try and play every night and eventually you'll be a pro.
- After you've learned the simple chords, advance to the minors and tougher chords.
